Central Air Conditioning – Don’t Get Fooled Again

Adjusting Thermostat

At this moment on June 11, 2018 at 12:34 AM, the local outside temperature in Hackensack, NJ is a whopping 58 degrees. (I’ll be proving it shortly). This is by no means a complaint. Nothing beats not having to provide heat or cooling service to one’s home, especially when nights have that light breeze that lulls one to sleep.

I called this “Bet You Didn’t See That One Comin'”

Thermostat to the sunYou probably don’t recall the post I did about a month ago when quite suddenly, the temperature rose from the 70s to the mid 90s. It felt downright brutal, and I should be used to it having lived in NY and NJ all my life. And that is the purpose of this blog.

It’s to help you realize that we aren’t in summer yet. Technically, June 21 is the official start of summer. So we (i.e. the tri-sate area of NY, NJ & CT) has been getting a break on fuel bills, an extra bonus as we watched oil and gasoline prices that made $3.00 so last decade, once again chip away at our wallets.

Air conditioning is much more than just cold air. It’s filtered air, catching pollen and other annoying causes of hay fever. It’s a dehumidifier, helping people of all ages breathe easier by pulling the heavy air out of the home and dispersing it out safely into the atmosphere it came from. And of course, it really humane for pets. Our Pembroke Welsh Corgi tries so hard to find a good, cool spot where the ceiling vents are blowing that soft, cool breeze while he lays on his back, paws up, often asleep dreaming of chasing cars and cats (this is pure speculation. I don’t really know what my dog dreams about.)

I dislike having to share negative thoughts but there have been so many times where I’ve been fooled. I’d plan a nice game of golf with friends, only to wake up to 90+ temps, humidity around the same number, and not even a hint of a breeze. To be honest, I’d rather sit in my car with the AC full blast listening to “Wish You Were Here” by Pink Floyd.

OK, now for the air conditioning tips.

Don't Get Fooled AgainThe first one is probably the most obvious if you’re AC is not working in your home or office. Go Someplace Else! Grab your laptop and pray for a comfy seat where you can do whatever work needs doing, while slowly sipping on a Venti Caramel Frappacino WITH THE WHIP CREAM. That’s good for at least an hour. Know where else it’s cool? The local supermarket. You always need something. Check the ketchup and mustard, neither of which need refrigeration – so you can leisurely inspect the rows of Cherry Garcia and keep them far away from the Rocky Road.
OK OK Now I’m starting to allow the heat to generate a bit of madness. I’m cranky, not hungry, thirsty, but not sure if I want a coke or a coffee. And now for the punch-line – Instead of leaving your home, feeling guilty that you can’t bring the dog into the grocery, please pick up the phone. Call Muccia Air Conditioning Service. There is this expectation that repairing a central AC unit requires the equivalent of getting Uncle Henry’s inheritance AND still need to apply for a grant from some obscure group.

These are machines. Like washers, cars, computers, TVs. Things happen. Calling Muccia will get you two things that I promise you won’t likely get often – 1) A quick reply from a tech who will ask some questions that will help him bring the right parts, whether he needs them or not. 2) You won’t fall over when he hands you the bill. At a minimum, you’ll know APPROXIMATELY the final cost within 10%, and they warranty their work, they leave your home clean of any fluids or lubricants required to do the job, and that comfortable feeling back home. You’ll sleep better, and so will your dog, or cat or fish, whatever.

Life’s too short to be uncomfortable. Call Muccia Plumbing and Air Conditioning. If you can avoid calling after 5 or on weekend and /or holidays you’ll save the premium for that in-home visit at 2 AM, and it’s going to likely to take longer than if you can just wait until morning.

Ahem, have you forgotten something?

Ah yes, before I sign off, remember when I said I was going to PROVE the temperature at the opening of this post. Well, here’s the undisputed truth. Stay cool, Be Comfortable. Life is too short not to enjoy each and everyday.
